Terminating the lease of a senior apartment

The period of notice is one whole calendar month

Tenants are not always sure about the period of notice for terminating the lease. The tenancy agreement states that the period of notice is the whole one calendar month; i.e. if you are moving out on 31 October, you must give notice of terminating your lease in September, no later than on 30 September.

The termination notice must always be given in writing. The easiest way to do this is by visiting the Housing Office where we have forms for the purpose. However, the termination notice can also be a free-format, dated and signed letter.

According to the Residential Apartment Rental Act, the lease is fixed-term or valid until further notice. The lease is valid until further notice, unless otherwise agreed or due to other law. The fixed-term lease expires at the end of its term. A lease agreement valid for an indefinite period, as well as a fixed-term lease agreement, shall terminate this Agreement as a result of termination, cancellation or termination of the agreement or agreements upon its termination. When the tenant terminates the lease, the move-out date cannot be changed afterwards.

Information for the mover

Porin YH-Asunnot Oy will inspect the apartment in question after you have emptied and cleaned the apartment and returned all the keys.

Empty and clean the apartment, balcony and storage. The tenant is responsible for any damage to the apartment that is not normal wear and tear.

Final cleaning of the apartment:

  • The stove, oven and baking trays as well as the grease filter of the cooker hood must be washed. The background of the stove must also be cleaned.
  • The freezer and refrigerator must be switched off, defrosted and washed and the doors left open.
  • Drawers, cabinets / cupboards, doors and door jambs must be wiped clean as with other surfaces.
  • Toilets, bathrooms and saunas with sinks must be washed and floor drains must be cleaned.
  • Close all windows and doors.
  • Floors must be wiped with a damp cloth.

Make sure that the connection pipes of the dishwashers and washing machines are plugged. If you have made changes to the kitchen cabinet for the dishwasher, restore the cabinet.

Leave the wall hooks and props for the boards as well as the blinds in place. Check that the original belongings in the apartment stay in place: curtain hangers, fire alarm and roof boxes.

Leave the security lock you installed in place. Hand over its keys and other keys belonging to the apartment to the office of Porin YH-Asunnot Oy. You will be responsible for the cost of replacing the lock if you do not return all the keys at the end of the tenancy.

We will refund the warranty once you have paid all rents, water, sauna and parking fees, as well as possible cleaning - / repair costs.
